  • How can I cool my upstairs?

    Hot air rises which makes it difficult to cool the upstairs.  Closing off some vents preferably unused vents on the main floor sometimes helps.  Be sure to have your furnace and air conditioner cleaned regularly, including changing the filters often.

  • How often should I change my furnace filter?

    Depending on the thickness of your filter, it can range anywhere between every 2-3 months to every year.  Thin filters need to be changed more frequently

  • Can I clean the outside ac condenser off with a garden hose?

    Yes, and it is suggested to keep debris off of it.  

  • What is the best humidity percentage to set my humidifier to?

    35%-45%.  Although be sure to not allow moisture on windows.  If this happens, turn the humidity down.  

  • How often should I change my humidifier evaporator pad?

    One time a year for city water and twice a year for well water.

  • What is the average lifespan of a water heater?

    8-12 years

  • How often should I have my water heater flushed?

    It is suggested to do this yearly.

  • What is the maintenance on a tankless water heater?

    It is suggested to flush yearly and use a de-scaler.  

  • When will R-22 refrigerant not available in the USA?

    R-22 refrigerant has been phased out and will be expected to be gone completely by 2025.

  • What is included in a clean and check?

    For furnaces we do a complete inspection and cleaning of the furnace including checking all the safeties, amp draw, gas pressure, tubing, drains and traps, filters, connections, and carbon monoxide reading.


    For air conditioners we do a complete inspection and cleaning of the condenser including checking the refrigerant level, pressures, contactor, fan cycling, capacitor, indoor & outdoor coil and capacitor.  


  • Are clean and checks included in my warranty?

    Unfortunately, no.  

  • Why is there water near my furnace?

    There are several reasons why you might find water near the furnace.  A few reasons are that the drain tube is clogged or the coil has a refrigerant leak.

  • Are there tax credits for installing new energy efficient hvac equipment?

  • Are there rebates available from the utility companies for installing high efficient hvac equipment?

    Yes, please see www.consumerenergy.com/rebates and/or www.dteenergy.com/rebates
